Originally from New York, Marie Grillo began studying Pilates in Seattle, Washington in 2001 at The Pilates Studio of Seattle. After a little over a year she enrolled in the teacher training program. She trained under Lori Coleman Brown and Dorothea VanDerwalle as well as in New York City at Dragos gym under Romana Krysonowska and her daughter Sari Pace. She was certified in 2003 under "Romana’s Pilates" and "Authentic Pilates" and began teaching in Seattle. Feeling the pull of the east, she soon moved back to New York where she worked at reAb Pilates under Brooke Siler (author of "The Pilates Body") as well as Core Pilates in Union Square. Marie has expanded her education working under non-classical teachers such as Ellie Herman (author of over twelve books on Pilates) and continued her education with seminars by Michael Fritze and Ton Voight, Cary Regan and many others. Marie has also written and directed a musical about the life and work of Joseph Pilates and produced it to sold-out audiences at off-broadway venues.

Whitney Lynn Tucker, a southern Illinoisan, graduated from Arizona State University with a BFA in Dance Education, where she additionally studied Iyengar Yoga (Alicante, Spain), Capoeira (Grupo Axe Capoeira), and Contact Improvisation. While a public school teacher in Portland, OR, she continued to investigate physicality through Shadow Yoga and Tai Chi/Qigong, mainly as a means to grow as a performer and improviser. Finally, she arrived at Pilates as a way to manage hyper-mobility and for injury prevention as a professional dancer. Whitney is grateful for Pilates’ ability to align and balance the internal/subtle body with external chaos. She is a graduate of Kane School of Core Integration. |
